Australian Science and Maths School

Stage 1 and 2 Earth and Environmental Science

Student Experience

Students love working at the wetlands and going paddling to collect water samples. Field work, in general, has been a big hit.
Several students have been undecided upon entering Year 12 and left the school pursuing a course in mineral geoscience or environmental sciences.
Students really enjoy not having the stress of an exam and converting that level of dedication into their personalised field studies.

EES Activities

On Monday 26 February, our Stage 2 Earth Systems students went on an exciting hands-on excursion to the Urrbrae Wetland Learning Centre.

They were treated to a presentation and tour by the staff on-site and got to experience the various features of the wetland as well as the biodiversity that comes with them. They also importantly, had the opportunity to collect samples for their upcoming investigation into water quality.

Thank you to the staff at the Urrbrae Wetland Learning Centre for all the work they do, and for giving our students this wonderful learning opportunity.

Teacher Experience

I love seeing students slowly figure out what their interests in the field are and construct field studies around them!
